The Big Bend Open Road Race is a non-profit corporation registered with the Secretary of State of Texas. It consist of three Directs, two of which are from Fort Stockton and one in Sanderson. Race proceeds are contributed throughout the year to various organizations such as: Project Graduation, Food Pantry, Volunteer Fire Department, EMS, FFA, American Cancer Society and others as approved. Also the race provides a scholarship each year to a high school student in both Fort Stockton and in Sanderson. The race is organized by a devoted group of volunteers, better known as the Race Committee with very few paid for their actual time during race days.
